Global Investment Institute congratulates Marie Cardaci on her appointment to the role of Investment Manager at Emergency Services and State Super (ESSSuper).

ESSSuper is a superannuation fund with around 124,500 members and over A$37 billion in assets under management.

Prior to joining ESSSuper, Marie was a Senior Consultant and Deputy Head of Responsible Investments at Frontier Advisors.

Louise Bradshaw joins CareSuper as Manager - Responsible Investments

Global Investment Institute congratulates Louise Bradshaw on her appointment to the role of Manager, Responsible Investments at CareSuper.

CareSuper is an award-winning, profit-to-member industry super fund. On 1 November 2024, CareSuper merged with Spirit Super to form a fund with over 550,000 members and A$53 billion in assets under management.

Most recently, Louise served as Manager - Responsible Investments, Stewardship lead at Aware Super. Prior to that, she was a Senior Analyst - Responsible Investments at Aware Super.

Spotlight on Joe Moroney, Partner, Co-Head of Global Corporate Credit & Head of Sustainable Finance, Apollo

Matthew Kempton joins Cbus as Head of Equity Strategies

Global Investment Institute congratulates Matt Kempton on joining Cbus in the role Head of Equity Strategies.

Cbus is a superannuation fund with A$100 billion in assets under management and 920,000+ members.

Matt will join Cbus in August 2025 from Funds SA where he spent 7+ years and most recently held the role Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Director, Equities. Funds SA is an investment management partner for South Australian public sector superannuation funds and approved authorities, with A$41 billion in assets under management.

Aware Super CIO, Damian Graham appointed Head of International

Global Investment Institute congratulates Damian Graham on his transition to the Head of International role at Aware Super.

Aware Super manages a A$190 billion portfolio on behalf of the Fund’s 1.2 million members.

Damian will transition into the role of Head of International, based in London, at the end of the year after 12 years as the CIO of Aware Super. To ensure a smooth transition, Damian will remain in the role of CIO until a new appointment is made, following which he will relocate to London in late 2025.

Leigh Gavin promoted to Chief Investment Officer at Cbus

Global Investment Institute congratulates Leigh Gavin on his promotion to the Chief Investment Officer role at Cbus.

Cbus is a superannuation fund with A$100 billion in assets under management and 920,000+ members.

Leigh joined Cbus in 2023. Prior to his promotion to the CIO role, he was the Deputy CIO and Head of Portfolio Strategies. He takes over the CIO role from Brett Chatfield who will step away to take up an opportunity outside of industry super after assisting with the transition.

Global Investment Institute congratulates Brnic Van Wyk on his promotion to Principal Retirement Solutions at Australian Retirement Trust (ART).

Prior to his promotion, Brnic served as the Head of Asset Liability Management, leading the development of ART’s ALM framework, member data analysis, models and governance structures.

- Cathy Bevan is the Head of Structured Credit at BSP-Alcentra, where she works in a team of eight professionals, including herself, a co-portfolio manager and six experienced structured credit analysts, who are focused on investing in 3rd party issued CLO tranches. They run one global CLO tranche investment team, without geographic silos, that covers the entire market, AAA to Equity and warehouses, primary and secondary, due to the interlinked nature of the CLO market.
