Global Thought Leader Spotlight

Laurence Taylor, Equity Solutions, Portfolio Manager, T. Rowe Price

In my role as Equity Solutions Portfolio Manager at T. Rowe Price, based in London, I am responsible for designing tailored equity solutions for clients by leveraging the firm’s fundamental, quantitative and responsible investment research capabilities.

I have over 25 years of investment experience, including 17 at T. Rowe Price, having previously worked within our global equity team for 15 years.

As market dynamics shift and investment policymaking bifurcates at an unprecedented rate, characterised by record levels of concentration within equity indices and record levels of passive adoption, the needs of our clients are evolving.

My focus is on client collaboration and the development of active strategies that address the unique objectives of this era of investing.

Evolution or new era
We are experiencing tremendous change in dimensions that cut across the established order of politics, societal structures and investing.

Making sense of what changes are material and durable has always been the remit of investors, but the extreme nature and length of this bull market, have elevated complexity and dispersed outcomes for investors.

With markets exhibiting many signs of a bubble, the need to differentiate between speculation and lasting disruption, real-world results and transient thematics, will be a defining foundation of success.

Leveraging active tools that integrate both fundamental and quantitative signals, or the inside and outside view of a company, is one way to navigate an era of change and extreme index concentration.

Implications for sophisticated investors
In a world of transformation, investors need to think differently. Market dynamics, characterised by record levels of passive ownership and historically concentrated indices, underscore the need for adaption and for creative solutions.

Today, it is essential to employ a robust, inclusive framework, ideally one that leverages both research-based and model-driven insights, combining the ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ view of stocks.

This approach can help investors better navigate risks and pursue alpha over time regardless of changing market conditions.

Laurence will be presenting at Global Investment Institute’s upcoming Equities Investment Forum, taking place on Thursday, 12 March 2026 in Sydney CBD, New South Wales. To register your interest in attending, click here or for more information email zlatan@globalii.com.au.
