Global Investment Institute congratulates Michael Drew on his appointment to the role of Deputy Chair at CareSuper.

CareSuper is an award-winning, profit-to-member industry super fund. On 1 November 2024, CareSuper merged with Spirit Super to form a fund with over 550,000 members and A$53 billion in assets under management.

Michael commenced on the Board of CareSuper in 2022, initially joining the fund as an Advisor to the Board and Investment Committee. He brings more than 30 years’ experience in financial services and a focus on finance, investments, retirement income, and governance.

An experienced financial economist, Michael is a co-founder of Drew, Walk & Co. He is currently Chair of Jobs Queensland, and a Director of the Investment Committee Pty Ltd.

Before joining the Board at CareSuper, Michael was a Trustee Director at QSuper and Advisor to the Investment Committee at Australian Retirement Trust. He is a credible, published author of over 90 scholarly papers, with his work on pension finance and superannuation cited by the Cooper Review, the Hayne Royal Commission, and the Retirement Income Review.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Economics, a Masters of Economic Studies and a Doctor of Philosophy, all from the University of Queensland.
